Keep Truckee Green and the Truckee Roundhouse are excited to announce a mending and repair workshop hosted in Spanish on Friday, April 25, from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Truckee Roundhouse. This event is free to the public and will be conducted entirely in Spanish, taught by local sewing instructor Maria Vega. The workshop is a part of the Keep Truckee Green Mending and Alternations Workshop series, with monthly classes focused on teaching garment and textile repair skills.
The Mending and Alternations Workshop Series was brought about after seeing the need for support with clothing and textile repairs at the biannual Fixit Clinic events, where attendees brought an overwhelming amount of clothing and textile items needing repair. This series hosts a free monthly workshop focused on basic techniques like patching, darning, and sewing to fix tears, holes, or loose seams. The goal is to support our Truckee community in learning new repair skills, giving our products a second life, reducing waste, and keeping items out of landfills.
Participants should bring a few items of clothing that need repair and will leave with newly restored pieces and the confidence to tackle future repairs on their own. Workshops are open to all levels of sewists, especially beginners. Participants must sign up in advance.

Fixit Clinic on April 21
Keep Truckee Green and Truckee Roundhouse will also be hosting a Fixit Clinic on Monday, April 21, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Truckee Roundhouse. Fixit Clinics are repair events where attendees can bring any broken household items needing repair and get support from “Fixit Coaches” to fix their broken items. Bring any broken items, including clothing, textiles, outdoor gear, electronics, wood, and metal furniture. Fixit Coach volunteers will help you restore your broken item for free! Celebrate Earth Week by keeping your broken items from landfills instead of purchasing new ones! Spanish interpretation provided. Learn more on the Keep Truckee Green website.
