[ARCHIVED] Surprise Award Honors Local Business Leader for Community Commitment During Small Business Month

At the May 13th council meeting, the Town of Truckee had the privilege of honoring a local business owner in a truly special way. During a surprise presentation, Jessy Hidalgo, owner of Nobility Works Construction, received the Small Business, Big Applause award. This award, presented by Major Jan Zabriskie, recognizes outstanding local businesses that go above and beyond to support and strengthen the community.

This recognition is particularly fitting during Small Business Month, as it celebrates the entrepreneurs and community members whose passion and dedication help shape Truckee’s unique spirit. Jessy’s nomination came from the Town’s Code Compliance Team, who have witnessed firsthand the positive impact of his leadership and generosity. Unbeknownst to him, Jessy’s unwavering commitment to community projects made him the ideal candidate for this honor.

Jessy Hidalgo recently gained recognition as part of a team that earned the prestigious Contractor of the Year award from the Contractors Association of Truckee Tahoe (CATT). Yet, it’s not just his professionalism in the building trades that sets him apart; it’s his dedication to giving back to the community.

One of the most remarkable efforts currently in progress under Jessy’s leadership is the restoration of the historic High Street House, situated above downtown Truckee at the intersection of High and Spring streets. When longtime resident and veteran Ross Nagle sought to bring his cherished home up to code, Jessy stepped up, not for recognition or reward, but out of a genuine sense of community.

Under Jessy’s guidance, Nobility Works Construction is coordinating a dedicated team of builders, contractors, volunteers, donors, and supporters, all working together toward a shared goal: to bring the High Street House up to code and restore its honor. This project is about more than just preserving a building—it’s about celebrating Truckee’s heritage, fostering community spirit, and working together to build a better future.

Truckee’s sense of community thrives on the contributions of local leaders like Jessy Hidalgo, who give back without seeking the spotlight and inspire others to do the same. Congratulations to Jessy on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for your ongoing commitment to making Truckee a better place for all.
