[ARCHIVED] Town Council to Review Priority Projects at November 24 Meeting

Council Priorities

The Town of Truckee will host a special Town Council meeting on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 5:00 pm at Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public.

At this meeting, staff will present the FY 2025/26 through FY 2026/27 Council Priority Update, which highlights substantial progress across all five of the Council’s strategic priority areas: housing; climate and sustainability; communications and outreach; infrastructure and economic vitality; and emergency preparedness.

As part of the Town’s two-year workplan cycle, staff will deliver more detailed quarterly updates on select projects to support public transparency and engagement. This quarter, the update will focus on four projects:

Downtown Railroad Pedestrian Crossing Feasibility Study

Staff will summarize months of work evaluating potential pedestrian overcrossing and undercrossing options downtown. The update will include stakeholder input, preliminary design concepts, key findings, and visuals to help inform Council and the community ahead of final recommendations.

MuniEV Plan

Staff will outline the key assumptions guiding the Town’s municipal fleet electrification plan, share progress on fleet transition planning, and present preliminary direction before the final draft is completed in 2026. The report highlights planning scenarios, baseline assumptions, and infrastructure needs to ensure alignment before the plan is finalized.

Managed Access and Floodplain Restoration Plan Grant Opportunity

Staff will ask for Council direction on whether to prioritize a potential partnership with the Truckee River Legacy Foundation to pursue a grant for a Managed Access and Floodplain Restoration Plan along the downtown Truckee River corridor. While this effort aligns with R3 Playbook goals, the amount of staff capacity required to support the project remains uncertain.

Support for the Truckee Tahoe Homeless Action Coalition

Staff will report on ongoing participation in weekly Pilot Coordinating Team meetings, planning for future operations and sustainable funding should the pilot prove successful, and continued neighborhood outreach and communication efforts.

The meeting will be broadcast by Tahoe Truckee Media online and on Channels 6 and 18 on Suddenlink Cable in the Tahoe–Truckee region, with high-definition coverage available on Channels 106 and 118.
