We have narrowed down the finalists in our Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark photo contest. We appreciate everyone who submitted photos for this Dark Skies initiative. We received a ton of amazing pictures in the youth, amateur and professional categories. Now it’s up to you to pick the winners. Browse the full gallery of finalists and vote for your favorite in each category by July 10, 2024. Go to the Don't Be Afraid of the Dark photo contest page on the Sierra Sun website. Winners will receive a Visit Truckee-Tahoe sustainable gift card, and also get to attend a private dark skies photography workshop.
This is part of a county-wide effort to preserve the night sky and the west side of the county is also holding a photo contest. Don’t forget to do your part to keep Truckee’s stars shining bright by turning off your lights at night.
