The Town of Truckee is honored and thankful for the community’s overwhelming support of Measure E. This critical funding will allow the Town to proactively sustain and enhance essential services and infrastructure vital to protecting the environment, ensuring public safety, and maintaining the high quality of life that defines Truckee.
With an estimated annual $3.5 million generated by the Measure E ½% sales tax, the Town will maintain and advance essential projects and services that address some of the most pressing needs facing Truckee today and tomorrow:
- Preparing for Wildfires and Natural Disasters- Measure E funding will strengthen roadside vegetation management, expand evacuation planning, improve emergency operations, and bolster disaster preparedness. These efforts are key to ensuring the safety of residents and visitors alike.
- Providing Reliable and Accessible Transit for All- Transit services are a lifeline for many in the community, including our youth, employees, seniors and residents with disabilities. Measure E now establishes a locally dependable funding source for the TART Connect microtransit program, currently funded only through June 2025, and support enhancements to transit facilities including the expansion Public Service Center Transit Facility. These initiatives will improve mobility and reduce the community’s carbon footprint and further leverage existing state and federal transit funding.
- Protecting Our Local Waterways- Truckee’s local waterways are vital to the region’s environment and way of life. With Measure E, the Town can advance programs and projects like the Trout Creek Restoration and the Donner Lake Interagency Partnership for Stewardship. These efforts aim to protect water quality, reduce pollution, and build resiliency in our watershed.
- Keeping Community Facilities Safe, Clean and Well Maintained- Measure E will fund maintenance and improvements to facilities such as the new DEWBEYÚMUWEɁ Park and the Railyard Mobility Hub, ensuring these spaces remain well tendered and safe and accessible for all.
- Expanding Workforce Housing- To address the housing needs of Truckee’s local workforce, Measure E will support programs like the Truckee Home Access Program, the piloted Rooted Renters Program, and the New Deed Restriction Program. These initiatives aim to provide affordable housing for critical members of our community.
The passing of Measure E is a testament to Truckee’s collective vision for a sustainable, resilient future that is provided for through self-help initiatives such as Measure E. These locally driven investments will safeguard the environment, enhance safety, promote economic vitality, and strengthen our community for generations to come.
Thank you, Truckee voters, for your trust, support and partnership, working together for Truckee’s tomorrow!
