This June, the Town of Truckee joined community members, partners, and visitors to celebrate the second annual Truckee Pride Week, a vibrant and inclusive series of events honoring identity, connection, and belonging.
The week began with Tahoe Expedition Academy’s Rainbow Run, Rock & Roll, a colorful community celebration that brought together participants of all ages for a 5K fun run, walk, or roll along the Truckee River Legacy Trail. Following the race, attendees gathered on the Chief Truckee Lawn at the Truckee Regional Park for a lively afternoon of music, games, food trucks, local vendors, and booths. Town staff were proud to join both with an interactive and informational booth and as race participants, sharing resources and joining in the spirit of community and celebration.
Over the course of more than 20 events, Pride Week offered a rich lineup of programming across town, including art exhibits, wellness sessions, performances, educational forums, and community gatherings. Organized by the Truckee Tahoe Pride Foundation, the week-long celebration helped amplify visibility and support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, Two-Spirit, and other gender and sexual identities (LGBTQIA2S+) residents, allies, and visitors alike.
At the June 10th meeting, the Truckee Town Council issued a formal proclamation recognizing June 2025 as Pride Month. The proclamation honored the 55th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and reaffirmed the Town’s commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community. It also acknowledged the leadership of Truckee Pride Week Founder and Lead Organizer David Mack, whose efforts continue to shape this growing local tradition.
While the celebration may have concluded, the values it uplifted remain part of Truckee’s vision for a more inclusive future. The Town remains committed to supporting programs, policies, and partnerships that reflect the shared values of equity, dignity, and belonging.
