Biography
Anna Klovstad was first elected to the Truckee Town Council in 2018 and currently serves as Mayor. Her approach to public service centers on collaboration, transparency, and civic responsibility, with a strong focus on protecting Truckee’s unique community character and overall well-being. She believes the most meaningful change occurs at the local level—through engaged residents, a responsive local government, and a shared commitment to the place we call home.
A long-time leader in sustainability and climate action, Anna has played a key role in advancing Truckee’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and litter. She is passionate about positioning Truckee as a model sustainable mountain community through a practical, triple-bottom-line approach that integrates environmental responsibility, economic vitality, and equity.
Anna serves as Director of Facilities, Maintenance, and Operations for the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District, overseeing nearly one million square feet of facilities across 14 sites. She previously managed TTUSD’s state- and federal award-winning sustainability program and brings deep experience in infrastructure, energy management, and long-term asset stewardship to her work on the Town Council.
In 2021, Anna spearheaded the creation of the Climate Transformation Alliance, a regional public-private partnership that unites local governments, special districts, nonprofits, businesses, and residents around a shared goal of achieving carbon neutrality in the North Tahoe–Truckee region by 2045.
Anna and her husband, Sven, have lived in Truckee since 1997, where they raised their two children, Sid and Braidon. The family is actively involved in the community, volunteering for Truckee River Day and serving as Champions for Truckee Clean Up Day since 2012. In her free time, Anna enjoys alpine and Nordic skiing, road and mountain biking, music (especially her husband’s band), and spending time with her family.
Anna holds a degree in Architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She is a Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and Certified Project Manager.
